Our jewelery is designed using a collection of beads made from strips of magazines pages.  The strips of paper are rolled around a needle and varnished for a glossy and water resistant finish.  Find out more and see photos on how we roll. By keep our presentation funky and green we sell our loose beads in Ugandan banana leaf pouches, and even are gift bags are made from recycled magazines..

Mzuribeads is doing many crafts fairs and events.  For a list of where to find us please view our events diary.  You may also find us following our African connections via the music scene.

We love doing festivals, (the latest was the Mela Festival 2008...super!) with Samba Scene & Diwan who famously spread an afro jazzy beat around Scotland.  We also had great fun designing the jewellery for the 'New Ugandan Beat', performed by Kika Troupe (July 2008). Mzuribeads are prepared to work with a range of materials for any project or event.  We have also been successful in providing beautiful little bracelets for weddings.  Please view our wedding favour packets in our online shop.

We are Ugandan based cooperative of over over 20 women who live and work in a village/suburb outside Kampala.  Kirstie MacLean is the managing director, (from the UK) who met the women whilst volunteering.  After some creative workshops in 2006 she was more than confident that these women were going somewhere...

"They are professional jewelers, particularly skilled in the art of the paper bead.  They have been working with
this medium for over two years and have perfected a wide variety of beads and incredible designs.
Furthermore, these women aren't scared of new materials, and have
confidently worked with aluminum,
fabric, wire, and wood.  The future of Mzuribeads will not stop at paper and jewellery, we are on a creative
journey in Ndejje, giving the fashion industy new depth from the very heart of Uganda. "
