Mzuribeads is doing many crafts fairs and events. For a list of where to find us please view our events diary. You may also find us following our African connections via the music scene. We love doing festivals with Samba Scene & Diwan who famously spread an afro jazzy beat around Scotland. We also had great fun designing the jewellery for the 'New Ugandan Beat', performed by Kika Troupe (July 2008). Mzuribeads are prepared to work with a range of materials for any project or event. Mzuribeads have also been successful in providing beautiful little bracelets for weddings. Please view our wedding favour packets in our online shop.
Mzuribeads is Ugandan based cooperative of over over 20 women who live and work in a village/suburb outside Kampala. Kirstie MacLean is the managing director, (from the UK) who met the women whilst volunteering. After some creative workshops in 2006 she was more than confident that these women were going somewhere...
"They are professional jewelers skilled in the art of the paper bead. They have been working with the medium for over two years and roll the most perfectly centered, clean and colourful beads I have seen yet. Furthermore, these women aren't scared of new materials. They have been working with aluminum, fabric and wire creatively and confidently. The future of Mzuribeads will not stop at paper beads, we are on a creative journey in Ndejje, bringing the latest fashion accessories new depth from the heart of Uganda. "Mzuribeads believe in ethical trading and fair pay for all.
